This is Summer's End by John Prine. On the surface it's a father trying to reconnect with his daughter, but for me it's really about all the relationships we don't want to lose. Prine was always writing about the importance of memories when making connecting with people. In this song it's the memories that act as a bridge between two people. I think anyone who's ever missed someone they love will find something of themselves in this song.
