Welcome
Dominic Blaydon is a Sheffield-based singer and guitarist whose music draws on the rich traditions of Irish folk, Americana and acoustic music. His performances explore themes of loss, love, hope, migration and human connection. It includes carefully chosen contemporary material from some of today's finest songwriters.
Influenced by artists such as Christy Moore, Ewan MacColl, John Prine and Bob Dylan, Dominic is drawn to songs with strong stories, memorable melodies and emotional honesty. Whether performing a well-loved classic, a contemporary folk song or an original composition, his aim is always the same: to create a genuine connection with his audience.
Over the past two years, Dominic has become a familiar face at folk clubs, acoustic sessions and open mic nights across Sheffield and South Yorkshire. Accompanying himself on acoustic guitar, he brings a warm and intimate performance style that is equally at home in listening rooms, folk venues, community events and informal gatherings.
Many of the songs Dominic performs have travelled through life alongside him; old friends revisited and shared with new audiences. They speak of love and loss, departures and homecomings, injustice and hope, and the experiences that shape who we become.
All income from Dominic's performances is donated to Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders). Having spent much of his professional life working in public service, he has long admired the organisation's commitment to providing impartial medical care to people affected by conflict, disaster and displacement. By donating all performance income, he hopes to support the extraordinary work of the doctors, nurses and humanitarian teams who bring care and dignity to communities facing immense hardship around the world.
Thank you for listening.
